The Colt Kodiak is a stainless .44 Remington Magnum revolver with a 4.25-inch full-lug barrel, a ventilated rib and porting to help manage muzzle rise. It has a six-round unfluted cylinder and both double-action and single-action operation. A red ramp front sight and an adjustable target rear sight are fitted, and the Hogue overmolded rubber grips bring it to 48.5 ounces at 9.75 inches overall.

This revolver suits a shooter who wants .44 Magnum power in a stainless gun for field or range use, and the porting and rubber grips help with recoil control. The grips can be swapped with Colt Python and Anaconda grips, which adds a fit option. The federal purchase steps for handguns are the same in every state: a licensed dealer, Form 4473, a background check and a minimum age of 21. A third of states add a permit, a wait or a capacity limit.
