The Blank Canvas for Your Serious Build

This is our original, mil-spec forged 80% lower, but we’ve left the final finish completely up to you. We’re shipping it in its raw, uncoated 7075-T6 aluminum state. What you do with it from there is your business. This isn’t just about saving a few bucks on a finish you’re going to strip anyway—it’s about starting from absolute zero and building a rifle that is genuinely, from-the-ground-up yours.

If you’ve been waiting to do a true custom paint job, a professional-grade Cerakote application in an exact color scheme, or even experiment with forced patina or other metal treatments, this is the foundation you need. No anodizing to sand off, no coatings to interfere with adhesion. It’s workshop-ready.

What “Raw Aluminum” Really Means

Let’s be clear: “Raw” means exactly that. This lower receiver has been machined from forged 7075-T6 aluminum billet and has no protective finish whatsoever. It will have machining marks. It will be susceptible to surface oxidation (a light, dull gray film) if left untouched in humid conditions. That’s the point. Your first step is to decide on your finish and prepare the metal accordingly. This is for builders who know the process or are ready to learn.

The critical fire control pocket and all other milling operations are completed to the standard 80% stage. All you need to do is finish the fire control pocket using a jig and router or drill press. The receiver is already marked with “FIRE” and “SAFE” on the selector ledge for your convenience.

Built Tough, Because Your Build Demands It

Don’t let the unfinished exterior fool you. Underneath, this is the same forged workhorse we’ve always sold. We don’t cut corners on the material or the machining just because we skipped the anodizing tank.

  • Material: 7075-T6 Aluminum Forging. This is aerospace-grade stuff, the same used in USGI M16 and M4 lowers. It’s significantly stronger and more wear-resistant than 6061. This isn’t a debate for anyone who’s serious about durability.
  • Construction: Fully forged for superior grain structure and strength. Features a broached magazine well for smooth, reliable mag changes every time.
  • Compatibility: Designed for standard mil-spec AR-15 components. Will build out into a reliable lower for 5.56 NATO / .223 Remington, 300 AAC Blackout, 6.5 Grendel, and other cartridges that use a standard AR-15 magazine and lower platform.
  • Fitment: 100% Mil-Spec. It will match up correctly with any mil-spec AR-15 upper receiver. No slop, no guesswork.
  • Origin: 100% Made in the USA. Machined, packaged, and shipped from our facility.

Who This Is For (And Who It Might Not Be For)

This raw lower is perfect for:
The hobbyist who views the finish as a core part of the project. The hunter who wants a specific, non-reflective camo pattern applied directly to the metal. The competitive shooter who wants a unique color scheme in a durable ceramic coating. The traditionalist who might want to blue or otherwise treat the aluminum. If you have a specific vision that starts with the metal itself, this is your part.

Consider our anodized lowers if:
You want a completed, corrosion-resistant finish right out of the box. You don’t plan on applying a custom finish and want the protection of hardcoat anodizing. You’re a first-time builder who wants to focus solely on the machining process without the added step of finishing the metal. That’s okay too—we’ve got those in stock.

What You Need to Know Before You Buy

Finish is Required: A raw aluminum lower will corrode if left unprotected. You must apply some form of finish, whether it’s paint, Cerakote, anodizing, or even a clear coat, after you complete the machining and before you put it into service.

Preparation is Key: For any coating to adhere properly, you’ll need to properly degrease and prepare the raw aluminum surface, often involving sanding or blasting. Do your research on your chosen finish method.

Tools & Jig: You will need an 80% lower jig and a router or drill press to complete this receiver. We sell jigs and tooling kits separately.

Legality: This is a component for building a firearm for personal use. It is not a firearm itself. You must be legally eligible to possess a firearm to purchase this item. By purchasing, you certify you are not prohibited from owning a firearm and that you will comply with all federal, state, and local laws. It is your responsibility to know your laws.
