The FN 509 LS Edge is a 9mm long-slide pistol with a 5-inch barrel and a Black Graphite PVD steel slide. The optic-ready slide takes a compatible red dot, and fiber optic sights come standard. It has a polymer grip with interchangeable backstraps, a 10+1 capacity and three magazines in the box. It weighs 31 ounces and measures 8.2 inches overall.

The long slide and 5-inch barrel suit a shooter who focuses on competition or precision work, where the longer sight radius helps. Interchangeable backstraps let the grip be tuned to the hand. The federal steps for buying are the same everywhere: a licensed dealer, Form 4473, a background check and a minimum age of 21. About a third of states add a permit, a wait or a capacity limit.
